Seven Years Later...

Immediately after our exams, my friends and I decided to go to Gold Coast, Australia for the fun of it. We booked our flight tickets about 2 weeks before our trip and off we went.

If you guys didn't know before, I went to Gold Coast with my aunts and cousins about seven years ago. So, today, I decided to just compare a few of the photos. Well, I would want to compare more but my SD card seven years ago could only hold so much photos. HAHA!

In the morning of our second day, I woke up to birds chirping. I was instantly reminded of my house back in Malaysia; crickets that lulled me to sleep and the chirps that gently woke me up in the morning. It was such a change from living in Melbourne city where I normally wake up to the clanging of pots and pans, or even worse, angry drivers who aren't afraid to use their honks. Boy do I miss Malaysia.

We had the Australian style of bread and eggs with coffee for breakfast. Mmmmmmm. After breakfast, we were on our way to start our journey for day 2.

you name it, they have it. haha.

At Raymond Island, we were on a koala bear hunt.

Mom spotted the first one and a billion more.

I spotted one attempting to do chin-ups. Haha! Amazingly cute animals.

I remember my friend, Derrick and I Google-ed the laziest animals one night and guess what?

Koala Bears were the laziest. Who would've guessed right?

We then took the ferry back to Paynesville and had fish and chips for lunch.

More like shark and chips.

but it was super yummy.

We had uninvited guests at our picnic there; Mrs Swan and a bunch of annoyingly loud seagulls.

Ron and Pauline then drove us to Metung to see the new house they purchased.

After dinner, Ron and Pauline took us on a mini tour in their lounge room.

Ron showed me this picture of a cabinet that they bought many years ago.

It was old, antique and they absolutely loved it.

They took it home and made this.....

Would you look at that!

Both Ron and Pauline slowly restored the cabinet and made it so beautiful!

The extra shelf above was carved by Ron.

Oh! Here's something incredibly cool.

This is a pianola. This pianola was passed down from generation to generation in Ron's family and it's about 100+ years old.

Scrolls like these have holes in it (sort of like Braille) and are placed into the pianola.

AND IT PLAYS BY ITSELF!

All you have to do is pump the pedals at the bottom and it plays wonderful music!

And so that was how our second day ended.

Country Road, Take Me Home

So, over the weekend, my parents came over from Malaysia to visit us. My parents and I were invited by the lovely Ron and Pauline to their house in Sale. My parents met Ron and Pauline on a flight to Melbourne. They exchanged e-mail addresses and that was how Ron and Pauline came over to visit us last year.

This was during my SPM trials so I didn't get to spend time with them much.

And the weekend came! Saturday morning, my parents and I took a first class train to Sale.

When we arrived at Sale, Ron and Pauline were already there to greet us. They drove us from the train station to their house.

Ron and Pauline are huge antique fans. They have things that are passed down from their great grandparents. Ron and Pauline also enjoy restoring antique furniture. Ron made most of the furniture they have at home from scratch. FROM SCRATCH!

Forgive me for being so lazy. Updating my blog used to be fun for me. Now, it's just so hard....you know? I have to think of what to post. The fact that I'm being judged by the things I say...totally kills my mood. But there's no avoiding that.

My sisters and I went apartment hunting a few days ago. We're torn by the awesome-ness of the apartments.
My sisters and I started playing this game called Warcraft 3: Lily's Sunken TD. And boy we are good at it! Haha..I think~ We've been playing for hours so maybe that's how. Practice makes perfect right? We're totally hooked.
Michelle che and I made tiramisu today. Tiramisu is my all-time favourite cake and I can't believe we actually made it! SO DELICIOUS.
College is starting in 11 days. Must. get. ready.
I am almost done reading Breaking Dawn. After this, I will have nothing left of Stephanie Meyer's books to read. I'm very tempted to get The Second Life of Bree Tanner. Should I?
I've been on a baking craze. Cupcakes with icing. So easy and fun. We sort of NEVER run out of cupcakes here.

okay. This is some random update because I'm bored. I don't really know what I'm actually talking about but whatever :)

Desperate Housewives Season 7

Constantly being entertained by Desperate Housewives. I am addicted I tell you! I haven't been this addicted since Heroes ( which ended due to poor reviews. SO SAD! ).

My friends. I miss them! ( Where's Miki? )

I miss my dogs the most. :'(

Since I arrived in Australia, I haven't cried hysterically like I thought I would. I wonder why.... I totally miss the lifestyle I had back in Malaysia. Everything was THERE! car, family,dogs, friends... Life here is so different. The people, the things I have to do now... and oh my god, the weather here; currently ranging from 4 to 12 degrees. On special days, we get 17 and that's still cold. -.-

Over here, I clean billions of things like the dishes, windows, clothes, floor, counters, chairs, the bathroom and even walls! If my maid were here, she wouldn't stop. I miss her. She keeps everything so clean and neat back in Malaysia. NEAT AND CLEAN I TELL YOU! I'd hate it if she had to go back to Indonesia. :(

The Starbucks coffee here is much cheaper than in Malaysia, even after the conversion rate. The sad part is, they don't have wifi. But then, I found another coffee shop not too far from the apartment WITH wifi. How cool is that? That shall be my chilling place from now on. :)

My sisters are having their exams. They're constantly at home. Boo! I did some grocery shopping alone today. I just wanted to get out of the apartment for a little while and I was glad I did. Might probably go to the Victoria Market tomorrow morning. I hate staying locked up. I think I'm claustrophobic. And amathophobic. And atychiphobic. I really do. Okay. I'm totally random. Haha! I should stop.

Dato' Lee Chong Wei was actually having a private dinner, celebrating a friend's birthday. His friend happens to be the owner of the shopping mall that we were in. :)

My uncle first spotted Lee Chong Wei making his way up the to the restaurant. Unfortunately, I was too busy eating my spaghetti. -.- Anyway, my family and I waited for about a good 2 hours plus. We thought he'd be done. It was already 10+pm and still no sign of Lee Chong Wei. Finally, my dad brought me up to the restaurant, got the help of one of the other Datos ( title given by a Sultan to someone who has contributed and etc..) at the dinner. The kind man actually brought us into the room and I got my picture with Lee Chong Wei!

HOW AWESOME IS THAT?? AAAAAAAAAAAAND! AAAAAAAAAND! I SHOOK HIS HAND! May his awesome-ness in badminton be transferred to me. :) *inhales* okay! I'm ready for my next match. Anyone? :D

Greetings from Melbourne! Today's my second/third day here and I am absolutely loving the weather! ...minus the raining part. The temperature here is just right and I don't have to wear thick layers of clothing. How awesome is that?

Anyways, let me summarize my first few days in Melbourne.

Day 1

Sat on the plane for eight bloody hours. Freaking long time. Made friends with two flight passengers sitting next to me. Australians ;) Played Veggie Samurai with them on my dad's iPad.
Reached Melbourne Airport. Sat in a SkyBus. Australian teenage dude sat next to me. Heeee. shy shy :)
Reached Southern Cross Station. Met Jason and Emily che. Went home. Ate Korean noodles. Slept
Woke up with webcam to my face. Skype-ed with Michelle che. Showered. Went to Melbourne Central to eat awesome pancakes.
Bought shoes for myself. :)
Went shopping for clothes.
Had mocha at Max Brenner.
Ate souvlaki for the very first time. Yum.
Watched Modern Family.
Played all types of card games ( poker, cho dai di, blackjack, ngao, snap..etc. ) with Jason and Emily che. We used sweets as our replacement for poker chips. Oh what fun!

Day 2

Slept for two hours. Woke up at around 2 in the morning. Cursed the mocha. Played poker online. :)
Made toast for breakfast.
Played more poker online.
Took Chloe out for a walk.
Came back. Watched Harry Potter -.-
Slept for another two hours.
Woke up, got ready for dinner
Had Korean food at Oriental Spoon. YUM!

I've been spending LOADS of time with the cousins lately. It's been super fun.

After my Biology paper, my cousins and I decided to meet up for dinner at Asia Cafe.

It was at Asia Cafe that we made lots of random, spontaneous and whatever else you call it plans!

Our first random plan was a sleep over at my house in a tent that very night itself. Unfortunately, our tent was nowhere to be found and I'm guessing it was thrown away by my grandmama. HAHA! Anyway, we decided to sleep in the house on the floor instead.

The next morning, we decided to go swimming at Pyramid's Resort Hotel. :)

Hello everyone.

SPM is almost over. I have one more paper left, English for Science and Technology ( EST) which is on the 15th this month and then I'm done. And after that paper, my friends and I will be heading to Pulau Langkawi; our much anticipated trip. I'm hoping it'll be fun.

And as usual, here's my list of things to do when SPM is officially over.

Learn how to play Fast Car by Tracy Chapman from Beatrice
To change my blog header and everything else with my sis, Emily. I like her blog layout.

To learn a Richard Clayderman piano piece which I have been struggling to learn since JANUARY. Mind you people, I don't have a piano background whatsoever. I'm like a Grade 0.

Okay. I'm here. Blogging again. Finally! First of all I would like to wish both my sisters happy belated birthday. I was so busy, I had no time to blog. So, here.

Jellyfish Sting and Your Pee

So, I had Chemistry tuition yesterday. We were learning about salts. There was this question on how to help a boy, who got stung by a jellyfish, without further aggravating the pain. The answer was to treat the sting with ethanoic acid, which is vinegar. Why? Because the sting is alkali and the vinegar is a weak acid.

Acid + Alkali = Salt + Water ....which is neutralization ( in case you didn't know )

So, we're actually neutralizing the sting...which is correct.

And then my friends suggest peeing on the sting. Can you cure a jellyfish sting by peeing on it? Should you pee on a jellyfish sting?

Hmmmm.. So, I did a little research and here's what I got.

Wait, before I show you what I found out, here's a little secondary school level chemistry lesson. Haha! :)

Our pee, urine, has urea in it. Urea, CH₄N₂O is stable ( a combination of two NH2 ions bonded to Carbon, which has a double bond with Oxygen ) and will not disassociate to form anything else.

Alkali ( sting ) + CH₄N₂O ( urea) = nothing :)

Therefore, your pee doesn't help the sting at all!

First, don't believe the rumors. Peeing on a stung bit of skin won't do much to relieve suffering, and you'll suffer some odd stares, too, doctors say.

Urine has not been scientifically proven to help in jellyfish stings, said Dr. Paul Auerbach, an emergency physician at Stanford University Hospital and an expert on jellyfish stings.

Instead, vinegar is the best first treatment, he said, when treating stings from North American jellyfish.

Hello everyone.

I'm blogging from Starbucks, Pyramid. The internet connection at home is being a bitch so I decided to drag myself here.

I made friends with a lady beside me. She's like an accountant or something. Using Microsoft Exel to key in numbers. I asked her if she could keep an eye on my belongings while I went to the washroom for a while. She likes me! Hehe.

Just finished reading this book. What an amazing book! I only started reading the book because I read that the author is an Irish. HAHA! The story started out in Ireland and so her characters were obviously Irish. And so I got horny and continued reading. :)

Here's the synopsis.

Maggie has always been the white sheep of the Walsh family. Unlike her comically dysfunctional sisters, Rachel (heroine of Rachel's Holiday) and Claire (heroine of Watermelon), she married a decent man who adored her and found herself a solid career. Where Rachel was reckless and Claire dramatic, Maggie settled early for safety. Or so she believed until she discovers that her husband is having an affair and her boss is going to fire her. Suddenly, her perfectly organized life has become a perfect mess.Devastated, she decides the only thing to do is to run for the shelter of her best friend, Emily, who lives in Los Angeles. There, with the help of sunshine and long days at the beach, she will lick her wounds and decide where life will take her next.But from the moment she lands in the City of Angels, things are not quite what she expected. Really good book. I especially love the ending.

Assessment is over.

Results will be out on Monday. I'm not looking forward to getting my papers back. I know I wasn't really studying. SPM is getting close and I'm not supposed to be like this.

It's time to start nerding. Hopefully I'll stick to what I say and how scared I feel right now.

I'm on the verge of losing it.

I was lying down on the floor, thinking about how life can be so unfair, so not how you want it to be.

And then my dogs came in and cuddled up beside me.

I felt so much better.

Who needs sisters when you have dogs? lol. Just kidding sisters! Been kinda lonely since you guys left. Scott and Tyler are your replacements. Good replacements indeed.
